NEWS & UPDATES
Something is happening around the Great Lakes.
Great Lakes Radio is coming to life — and it's happening alongside a growing family of creative projects that are beginning to connect with one another in some very exciting ways.
What started as several individual ideas is becoming a network of radio, music, spirituality, storytelling, gaming, community, exploration and original media — all rooted here in the Great Lakes and capable of reaching far beyond them.
And we're only getting started.
GREAT LAKES RADIO IS LAUNCHING
Great Lakes Radio is being built as an independent radio and media network with original programming, music, interviews, spirituality, philosophy, storytelling, gaming, farm life, community history and conversations with interesting people throughout the Great Lakes.
Our programs include:
Love's Church
What is a god?
The Lantern Tree
Independent Music Hour
Farm Gossip
Dungeons & Dragons Storytime
Audiobooks & Storytelling
along with special broadcasts, interviews, music and whatever else develops along the way.
The goal isn't to sound like conventional radio.
The goal is to build something interesting.
Something human.
Something creative.
And something that can grow along with the people and communities around it.
THE PROJECTS ARE COMING TOGETHER
Great Lakes Radio isn't developing by itself.
Several projects created by Reverend Chickie Haute and Minister John Collie are beginning to connect under the larger world of Quantum Inspirations.
Each has its own identity and purpose, but they can also interact with one another.
GREAT LAKES RADIO
Radio, music, interviews, original programming, storytelling and community voices from the Great Lakes and beyond.
GREAT LAKES GAMES NETWORK
A network connecting tabletop gamers, gaming groups, game stores, venues and others who help make in-person gaming communities possible throughout the Great Lakes region.
LOVE'S CHURCH
Spirituality, reflection, love, personal connection and short non-denominational services — including the 30-minute Love's Church broadcasts heard on Great Lakes Radio.
QUANTUM INSPIRATIONS
The larger creative network connecting projects involving spirituality, exploration, media, creativity, community and ideas.
CHICKIE HAUTE
The personal and professional creative work of Reverend Chickie Haute, including ideas surrounding growth, self-awareness, human potential and creative expression.
As these projects grow, they can move naturally between different parts of our world — radio meeting community, gaming bringing people together around a table, music introducing us to new artists, spirituality inspiring conversation, and one project inspiring another.
Separate projects don't have to remain separate worlds.
They can connect.
A GREAT LAKES NETWORK IS GROWING
One of the most exciting parts of Great Lakes Radio is discovering just how much is happening throughout the Great Lakes.
Every town has people doing something.
Someone opened a small business.
Someone is preserving local history.
Someone is making music.
Someone is creating art.
Someone has spent decades learning a craft.
Someone is restoring an old building.
Someone knows the story behind a place everybody else drives past.
Someone has an idea nobody around them has heard yet.
Those are the people we want to meet.
Great Lakes Radio gives us an opportunity to begin connecting those people — not through boring advertisements, but through actual conversations.
We want to sit down with business owners, musicians, historians, artists, makers, community leaders, entrepreneurs, spiritual thinkers and other interesting people and ask:
Who are you?
What are you creating?
Why does it matter to you?
And what should the rest of the Great Lakes know about it?
Those conversations may appear on What is a god?, The Lantern Tree, music programming, community features and other Great Lakes Radio broadcasts.
LOCAL CONNECTIONS. BIGGER POSSIBILITIES.
The Great Lakes cover an enormous region filled with cities, villages, farms, businesses, artists, musicians, history, culture and communities that don't always get an opportunity to hear one another.
Radio gives us a way to start connecting them.
A musician in one community can be discovered by someone several towns or states away.
A tiny local business can tell the story of how it began.
A historian can preserve a story before it's forgotten.
A community project can inspire another community.
A conversation that begins somewhere around the Great Lakes can be heard anywhere in the world.
That's the exciting part.
We don't know yet where all of these connections will lead.
And we don't particularly want to know ahead of time.
We'd rather discover it.
FROM THE MUSIC
Reverend Chickie Haute and Minister John Collie are musical artists themselves, and original music will be part of the creative identity of Great Lakes Radio.
Through Independent Music Hour, we'll also discover and share independent musicians creating outside the conventional music industry.
New music.
New artists.
New collaborations.
And perhaps some unexpected discoveries along the way.
FROM THE FARM
Sometimes the biggest news around here has feathers.
Or four legs.
Or has somehow escaped from wherever it was supposed to be.
We'll share occasional updates from farm life, animals, gardens, homesteading experiments, wildlife, seasonal discoveries and stories that may eventually make their way onto Farm Gossip.
Because apparently the animals are part of the network too.
Nobody remembers inviting them.
FROM THE GAMING TABLE
The worlds of Great Lakes Games Network and Great Lakes Radio come together through Dungeons & Dragons Storytime and our shared enthusiasm for tabletop gaming.
Great Lakes Radio gives us a place to tell the stories that happen around the gaming table.
Great Lakes Games Network takes that connection into the community — helping gamers discover other players, gaming groups, game stores, venues and opportunities to sit down and play together in person.
One project tells the stories.
The other helps people find a table where new ones can begin.
WHAT'S NEXT?
More programming.
More music.
More stories.
More projects.
More people to meet.
More places to explore.
And a much bigger Great Lakes community still waiting to be discovered.
We'll use this page to share new programs, new project launches, interviews, collaborations, community discoveries, music releases, gaming news, farm happenings and important Great Lakes Radio announcements as they happen.
So check back.
Things are moving quickly around here.
