OUR SHOWS

Great Lakes Radio is home to original talk, spirituality, storytelling, independent music, homesteading, entertainment, and a few things that don't fit neatly into any category.

That's rather the point.

Explore our programs below, check the schedule for airtimes, or simply tune in and see where the day takes you.

FARM GOSSIP

with John & Chickie

Life with animals gets interesting.

Farm Gossip explores the everyday realities — and occasional absurdities — of sharing your life with animals and building a more connected relationship with them.

John and Chickie talk about animal care, behavior, animal communication, homesteading, farm life, and the lessons animals have a funny way of teaching the humans who care for them.

And yes...

There's always gossip.

THE LANTERN TREE

with Minister John Collie

Old wisdom. Forgotten stories. New conversations.

The Lantern Tree is a journey through spirituality, philosophy, community history, ancient works, folklore, old ideas and the wisdom people have carried from one generation to the next.

Minister John Collie explores the writings, beliefs, traditions and stories that have helped people make sense of life across cultures and throughout history — while also looking closer to home at the people, places and history of the Great Lakes community.

The program may feature conversations with local historians, community members, business owners, craftspeople, storytellers and other interesting people whose knowledge and experiences help preserve the stories of where we came from.

Ancient texts may sit beside local history. Philosophy may meet folklore. A centuries-old idea may suddenly have something very relevant to say about life today.

Pull up a chair beneath The Lantern Tree. Some stories are worth carrying forward.

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS STORYTIME

with Dungeon Master John

Roll for initiative.

Dungeon Master John takes listeners into worlds of adventure, imagination, characters, monsters, questionable decisions, unexpected consequences, and the wonderful unpredictability of tabletop storytelling.

Whether you've been rolling dice for decades or you've never touched a twenty-sided die in your life, you're welcome at the table.

Pull up a chair. The adventure is about to begin.

LOVE'S CHURCH

with Reverend Chickie Haute & Minister John Collie

A little church for wherever you happen to be.

Love's Church presents short, non-denominational services centered on love, spiritual reflection, encouragement, personal connection, and our relationship with one another and the world around us.

Come as you are.

No building required.

WHAT IS A GOD?

with Reverend Chickie Haute

What if the question is bigger than the answer?

What is a god? explores human potential, self-help, mindfulness, self-awareness, concepts of creation, spirituality, philosophy, personal growth and the ways we understand ourselves and the world around us.

The program combines reflection and conversation with interviews featuring interesting and influential people from throughout the Great Lakes community — including business owners, creators, community figures and others whose experiences, ideas and work offer something worth exploring.

Through spirituality, philosophy, self-discovery, human potential, personal experience and challenging conversation, Reverend Chickie Haute explores the nature of consciousness, creation, power, responsibility and the divine.

This isn't a program about telling you what to believe.

It's an invitation to ask the question.

INDEPENDENT MUSIC HOUR

with Reverend Chickie Haute & Minister John Collie

Step away from the mainstream.

Independent Music Hour celebrates independent artists, original music, and the creative people making music outside the conventional industry machine.

Discover something you might never hear on mainstream radio and meet some of the musicians creating it.

AUDIOBOOKS

Turn down the lights and stay awhile.

Great Lakes Radio brings classic stories and spoken-word works back to the air through selections from the rich world of public-domain literature.

Adventure, mystery, philosophy, strange tales, forgotten treasures and familiar classics all have a place here.

Sometimes there's nothing better than simply being read to.
